What is the chokehold?
Officials use oppressive tactics to coerce accused individuals into forced or false confessions, plea bargains, and other harms. These activities are defined as Chokeholds.
Chokeholds are painful and frequently complex. For example, if you or someone you love experienced 8 elements from the list below, you suffered an 8-point Chokehold.
AJP is inspired by Paul Butler's groundbreaking book, Chokehold: Policing Black Men, which exposes the criminal justice system's disproportionate harms to Black and Brown people.
